Alumni: Jackson Comes To Terms On Free Agent Contract
Posted on Wednesday, April 27 @ Eastern Daylight Time Football

The Tennessee Titans announced that they have agreed to terms with former South Carolina safety Jamacia Jackson to a free agent contract.

As a senior in 2004, Jackson ranked third on the team with 59 tackles, 40 of which were unassisted. He was a key figure and a vocal leader of a Gamecock defensive unit that ranked fifth in the Southeastern Conference in total defense, sixth in rushing defense and third in pass defense efficiency.

Jackson was credited with one forced fumble and made two interceptions, one of which he returned 98 yards for a touchdown in South Carolina's season-opening win over Vanderbilt. He made a season-high 11 tackles against Georgia, then matched that figure with 11 more tackles against Clemson.

In his junior year of 2003, Jackson played in 11 games, making 39 tackles. He recorded a sack against Tennessee and was credited with a forced fumble. As a sophomore in 2002, Jackson saw action in all 12 games and got the starting nod against Mississippi State and LSU. He saw most of his playing time on special teams as a redshirt freshman in 2001.

A native of Sumter, S.C., Jackson was selected as Sumter's HS offensive and defensive MVP and was tabbed as the No. 4 running back in the Atlantic Region by PrepStar Magazine coming off a senior year in which he had three touchdown runs of 90 or more yards (92, 94, 97).
